North Prairie Church

Winthrop Harbor, Illinois

Following a fire which destroyed their historic 75-year-old structure, church leaders turned to Partners in Design Architects for assistance in replacing their beloved place of worship, which at the time of the fire, had been in the middle of a renovation effort.

The sanctuary’s arched opening replicates a valued feature of their previous church.
Stained glass windows and altar furnishings undergoing off site refurbishment at the time of the fire, were reused in new configurations as part of the new and larger worship space.
Its distinctive cupola provides a source of diffused natural light at the center axis gathering space.
