Kenosha County Veterans Memorial Park
On this Memorial Day weekend, our team would like to share a special project that we have been a part of over the past year – Kenosha County Veterans Memorial Park – Army Shelter.
In 2021, Kenosha County completed construction of a new Honor Plaza memorial at the newly dedicated Veterans Memorial Park. The masterplan for the park includes a series of six memorial shelters along a two-mile walking path, with each shelter dedicated to one of the six branches of the United States Military.
Over the past year the first shelter, dedicated to the United States Army was designed/constructed and is situated to overlook a beautiful wetland area of the park. Two textured, cast in place concrete arches serve as the primary structure for the shelter. This is complimented with a hanging roof, constructed using warm wood finished aluminum soffit panels and dark steel trim with a skylight that will cast a silhouette of the respective military branch seal onto the shelter floor on a sunny day.
In addition, built in Adirondack chairs and concrete bench seating allow visitors to sit comfortably while observing the natural beauty of the parks and remember the loved ones who served in the United States Military.
Thank you to all of the servicemen and servicewomen who gave the ultimate sacrifice in service to our great nation! The PIDA team is honored to be a part of this special project honoring your memory.
